At MCA our vision is to Encounter Jesus, Be Empowered by the Holy Spirit, and Engage the people and needs of kelowna and the world beyond. We love when members of our church community step out in faith as they step into what it means to be the people of God in all aspects of life. CREATE is an initiative started by Taran Main and its mission is to build a community in Kelowna with people from all walks of life.
What is CREATE? CREATE is a program that offers free recreational activities that will be run at MCA Church. It is an opportunity for anyone in the community to get involved in something that they are passionate about with other people who share that interest.
Some examples of possible activities:
- Art class = would have a volunteer leader either teaching or facilitating a table where participants get to be creative and CREATE a personal work of art that they can take home with them.
- Music class = would have a volunteer leader either teach how to play or play with fellow musicians for fun or put together a song that they could perform to the other participants!
- Sporting events = lead by volunteers, we would bring people together for some physical activity and fun in the MCA gym!
- Board games and Cards = a table would have a volunteer leader who would bring board games and have a great time playing games!
Participants:
The program will be offered to everyone and anyone from the community so friends and family are welcome to attend! There is a focus on offering the program to those experiencing homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorders or any other life circumstances so let’s welcome them to MCA!
Start Date: Sunday February 5th 1:30pm to 3:30pm
(volunteers please come 30 minutes early to help set up)The program will continue for 8 weeks, at the same day and time each week, at which time we will determine if the program is successful and decide if we should continue.

- Select position you would like to fill on list – you can sign up for several different weeks at once.
- Click Submit and Sign Up located at the bottom-middle of the screen.
- Enter the # of people helping and a comment detailing what you are doing or if you need anything (ie for an activity).
- Create a SignUpGenius Account (adding your phone number is optional).
- Be sure to check the box – Create an account so you can login and edit; enter your password.
- Click SignUp Now – you will be directed to a new page.
- Click Return to Sign Up and save this page for later use.
Administration, Leaders, and Organizers:
We are also looking for individuals that would love to get more involved and help run CREATE. We will need help ensuring we have enough volunteers, advertising the program, inventory, paperwork, and everything else that comes with being a leader of a program.
Donations:
If you have supplies and equipment at home that you would be willing to donate to MCA for use in the program, please contact me and let me know what you have. We would love whatever you are willing to donate.
