Do you ever wonder what happens in the youth ministry at Mission Creek Alliance? Maybe you come to church every Sunday and you only see a few students and think to yourself, “Youth here must be really struggling, there are hardly any!” I think this is one of the coolest things about my job as the, “Youth Pastor.” Quite a few students who are a part of our youth community don’t come to church. Every week we are around 30-40ish students and Thursday’s have been a safe place to hang out, eat some food, learn about Jesus, and enjoy each other.

Youth Leader’s are the lifeblood of any good youth ministry. It is unrealistic (and frankly not a good idea) if the youth pastor is expected to connect with 30+ students every week. Youth leader’s enable not only a structured environment, but the ability for depth in relationships to form. We started with three leaders in October and now we have seven! This may not seem like a lot, but it's huge. It is still a prayer of ours for a few more solid men to help out, but as of right now it is working out good!

For first few months of 2016 we are going to be working through the story of Joseph. It is a great narrative that shows God’s faithfulness in all situations. Please pray that God will reveal more of himself as we dig into the Bible during this new year.

Thank you for your support these past few months. Moving to a completely new town with no connections is always difficult but Kelowna is beginning to feel like home and I am enjoying our church community!

Continue to pray for the students who come each Thursday, for the leaders who give up an evening of their week to invest into youth’s lives, and in the words of Paul, “Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.”
