Have you heard about Seamline?

For the past 25 years a group of ladies have diligently sewed, knit, mended, and created beautiful and practical supplies for people in need.  Each year they have sewn then sent their practical gift.  Last Wednesday we commissioned the work and prayed for the children who would receive them.

This year our group of 8 ladies sewed:

  • 350 little dresses and 225 pairs of shorts for an organization called Niteo Africa, which serves several orphanages in Uganda.

  • Over-the-shoulder bags, which were used to raise funds for ISEE Solutions, a non-profit group Investing in Sustainability, Education and Empowerment Solutions for women in Uganda.

  • Knitted and crocheted scarves, slippers, gloves and toques for the Okanagan Gleaners. They will be sent to relief organizations along with their dry food supplies.

  • Baby blankets for the Pregnancy Care Centre and new moms at Mission Creek Alliance Church.

I want to take the opportunity to thank our ladies for using their gifts, time, and talents to engage the people and needs of our city and the world beyond.  What a joy to see people creatively living out our "Engage" focus!

Seamline meets the last Wednesday of the month from September - May.  If you are interested in being part of this wonderful crew, please contact Karan Schieck karan@missioncreekalliance.com

The group is always looking for donations of fabrics (cottons & Flannels) and wools.  Any help is much appreciated.
